موضوع كتاب الكافية الشافية في الانتصار للفرقة الناجية -كما ذكر الشارح له-هو الحاكمة بين الطوائف، وإثبات صفات الباري سبحانه وتعالى رغم كل مخالف. وطريقته أنه يسرد الأبيات التي تتعلق بموضوع معين، ثم يشرحها بأدلة من الكتاب والسنة، وأقوال أهل السنة والجماعة وآراء الأئمة في إثبات ما وصف الله به نفسه وصفه به رسوله، ويرد على المخالفين من أهل البدع والضلالة كالاتحادية، والجهمية، والمعطلة الذين تأثروا بعقيدة المتفلسفين وأهل الكلام المذموم، ويدعم عقيدة أهل التوحيد من سلف الأمة وكبار الأئمة الذين هم وسط بين الأفراط والتفريط والغلو والتقصير. وكل علم يذكره ابن القيم في قصيدته يترجمه الشارح ويذكر عقيدته ومؤلفاته وكلام العلماء الإثبات فيه. فيحذر من الاتحاديين-أهل وحدة الوجود-والجهميين، والمعطلين، ويثني على العلماء من أهل السنة والجماعة الذين ثبتوا على العقيدة الصحيحة بالرغم مما لاقوا في سبيلها من المحن والابتلاء كالإمام أحمد بن حنبل، والإمام محمد بن إسماعيل البخاري صاحب الصحيح والشارح ينقل في هذا الكتاب عن العلماء الأثبات الموثوقين، وأكثر ما ينقل من تب الناظم العلامة ابن القيم، "كالصواعق المرسلة على الجهمية والمعطلة" و"إغاثة اللهفان من مكائد الشيطان"، و"بدائع الفوائد" و"جلاء الافهام" و"مدارج السالكين في شرح منازل السائرين"... وكذلك ينقل عن غير هذين العامين من العلماء الأعلام مثل الفقيه الكبير، "موفق الدين ابن قدامة المقدسي"، و"الحافظ الذهبي" وغيرهم وفي ترجمته للرجال، أكثر ما ينقل عن "تاريخ الطبري" و"الميزان" و"تاريخ الإسلام" للذهبي.
وقد سرد الشارح في كتابه هذا، أقوال العلماء الذين ردوا على الاتحاديين، كالعز ابن عبد السلام، والقسطلاني، وابن حجر العسقلاني، والسخاوي وغيرهم، وكلهم على مذهب الإمام الشافعي. وقد تعرض الشارح لمسألتين خطيرتين جالت فيهما أقلام العلماء الأعلام. أولاهما: خبر الآحاد: هل يفيد العلم، أو لا؟ وقد نقل عن كتاب "الصواعق المرسلة" لابن القيم عشرين دليلاً قوياً بأسلوب واضح جلي، أثبت فيها أن خبر الآحاد يفيد العلم. وثانيهما: إثبات الفوقية لله تعالى، وقد سرد أكثر من عشرين فصلاً لإثبات الفوقية لله تعالى من غير تشبيه ولا تمثيل ولا تعطيل، كما هي عقيدة السلف الصالح، وفي هذه الفصول آيات وأحاديث وأقوال للسلف الصالح تتعلق بالموضوع.
