الكتاب الذي بين يديك عبارة عن جهود بذلت في سبيل اقتطاف ما ورد من مناقب علي بن أبي طالب عليه السلام، في المصادر الحديثية المختلفة وتمّت بذلك إعادة تدوين الكتاب المفقود بين المصادر القديمة والتي اهتمت بخصائص أمير المؤمنين علي بن أبي طالب وأغفلت مناقبه، وجرى في الكتاب أيضاً تجميع بعض الروايات التي تنص على أن بعض الآيات القرآنية نزلت في شأن أمير المؤمنين عليه السلام، تحت عنوان "ما نزل من القرآن في علي" ويبدو وأن هذا الموضوع يمثل باباً من أصل كتاب "مناقب علي بن أبي طالب" لابن مردويه.
