تسعى هذه الدراسة إلى بلورة تصوّر عام ودقيق عن مفهوم التقوى في القرآن الكريم من خلال تتبّع مواضع ورودها فيه واستقراء حيثيات كل ورود ضمن سياقات النصوص القرآنية لمعرفة المناخات العامة والمضامين الخاصة التي وُظّف فيه هذا المفهوم. كما وتسعى، من جانب آخر، إلى معرفة الكيفية التي فهم بها المفسرون مفهوم التقوى من خلال تناولهم لتفسير الآيات القرآنية المتضمّنة له، كلٌّ حسب منهجه الخاص به ومشاربه الفكرية التي نهل منها وطريقته الخاصة التي ارتآها مناسبة لتفسير كتاب الله عزَّ وجل. ولإكساب البحث صفة الاستيفاء الشمولية من جهة، ولتحري الدقة والموضوعية العلمية من جهة أخرى، فقد حاولت هذه الدراسة أن تجمع بصورة متوازنة بين أعمال المؤلفين الذين تناولوا في دراساتهم هذا المفهوم الهام من قدماء ومحدثين ومن كلا المدرستين السنية والشيعية على حدٍّ سواء.
