كتاب الحسن بن الهيثم، بحوثه وكشوفه البصرية، من تأليف الأستاذ مصطفى نظيف سنة 1942-1943 في القاهرة.
ويعدهذا الكتاب بجزأيه أول بحث في تاريخ علم المناظر، يرجع فيه مؤلِّفه إلى مخطوط كتاب المناظر لابن الهيثم. ونفدت طبعة هذا الكتاب منذ عقود، فقام مركز دراسات الوحدة العربية بإعادة إصداره، ضمن سلسلة تاريخ العلوم عند العرب حتى يستطيع القارئ الاستفادة منه.
وحتى تتم الفائدة أضاف الدكتور رشدي راشد إلى هذا الكتاب ما جدّ في البحث التاريخي عن الحسن بن الهيثم بعد وفاة مصطفى نظيف. لقد أحاط المؤلّف ببحوث ابن الهيثم وآرائه ودراساته في الضوء، ما ورد منها في المناظر، وما ورد في المقالات. وعرض هذه الأمور عرضاً علمياً، مع شرحها وتحليلها ومناقشتها. وقد التزم في الكتاب آراء ابن الهيثم، وطرائق تفكيره، ومقدمات قياسه، وخطوات براهينه الهندسية. كما حرص على أن يورد القوانين التي ذكرها ابن الهيثم والقواعد العامة التي طبّقها في الأغراض التي أرادها، كما نصّ عليها بلفظه.
في هذا الكتاب، من المعلومات ما كاد يطويه الدهر في ثنايا النسيان، ومنها تفصيل ما لا يزال العلم به مجملاً أو مقتضباً. فالأمل معقود، أن يكون للكتاب، في طبعته الجديدة، بعض الأثر في تعديل الأوضاع التاريخية لبعض البحوث والكشوف العلمية الخاصة بعلم الضوء، والأمل أيضاً أن يسهم هذا الكتاب في إحياء ذكر ابن الهيثم في الكتب التي تؤلَّف لطلبة المدارس والجامعات، في هذا العلم، وأن يكون في نشر آثاره إصلاح كثير من الاصطلاحات والعبارات التي نستعملها الآن في علم الضوء، فيستبدل بها خير منها، ممّا ورد في أقوال هذا العالِم الفذّ.
