نظراً للطبيعة المتشابهة بين التصوف والشعر، لجأ بعض المتصوفة المسلمون إلى التعبير من خلال القصائد، فصوّر من خلال الأبيات مجاهداتهم الروحية، ومشاهداتهم الذوقية، وأفكارهم الخاصة التي كانت قد بدأت منذ القرن السادس الهجري، تأخذ شكلاً فلسفياً، وقصيدة النادرات العينية التي يضمها هذا الكتاب "لعبد الكريم الجيلي" هي واحدة من أهم قصائد الشعر الصوفي الرمزي، حيث استطاع الشاعر من خلال أبياتها أن يصور كل أغراضه الذوقية، متخذاً من الرمز الصوفي أداته للإشارة إلى هذه الأغراض…فجاءت القصيدة، كمرآة انعكس عليها فكر الجيلي بوصفه صوفياً ومتفلسفاً، ونظراً لما لهذه القصيدة من أهمية تراثية عُني الشيخ "عبد الغني النابلسي" بشرح هذه القصيدة مبينا فيه المواضيع المستشكلة من جهة المعرفة الإلهية، "كما صرح من مقدمة شرحه".
وفي هذا الكتاب الذي نقلب صفحاته يقدم المحقق "يوسف زيدان" النص الكامل لقصيدة النادرات العينة في ثوب يليق بها من التحقيق العلمي وهدفه إخراج هذه الصفحة من التراث المخطوط والذي يعد شهادة على لون من ألوان التراث الإسلامي، كما يدون إلى جانب القصيدة فقرات مقتطفة من شرح عبد الغني النابلسي على قصيدة الجبلي مردفاً النصوص بفهارس عامة، وبشرح موجز لبعض المفردات اللغوية الصعبة، وبتخريج للآيات القرآنية والأحاديث النبوية الشريفة، مع تعريف مختصر للعديد من المصطلحات الصوفية الواردة في المتن.
