يحتوي هذا الكتاب على سلسلة من المقالات التي كتبها المؤلف على امتداد العامين المنصرمين حول عدد من الأزمات السياسية والاجتماعية التي تمر بها البحرين قبل وبعد الانفراج السياسي الذي حققه العهد الجديد.
يرى المؤلف بأن الحكم يمكنه مواجهة هذه الأزمات ومعالجتها بحكمة فيما لو تخلص من المخاوف الناجمة من التوترات المجتمعية والسياسية السابقة التي عصفت بالبلاد.
وتتجلى هذه الأزمات في التجنيس السياسي وازدواجية الجنسية وعدم المساواة بين المواطنين في توزيع الدوائر الانتخابية، والتمييز بأشكاله: المذهبي والقبلي والإثني، إضافى إلى مشكلة الفساد المالي والإداري المستشري في البلاد، والذي هو الثمرة الطبيعية للعهد الشمولي القمعي الذي شهدته البلاد منذ تعليق الحياة البرلمانية وتعليق أبرز مواد الدستور في أغسطس 1975.
ويتطرق المؤلف إلى إشكالية الإعلام والقيود التي تضعها السلطة على حرية التعبير والنشر والصحافة، ويرى فيها تعبيراً عن عجز الدولة عن مواكبة التطورات الكبيرة في عالم الاتصالات والمعلومات، حيث تتمسك بالأساليب القديمة في الرقابة وحجر الأفكار.
كتاب يسلط الأضواء على بعض مظاهر التوتر السياسي والمجتمعي في مرحلة الانفراج السياسي الذي تعيشه البحرين حالياً.
