يعد هذا الكتاب أحدُ كتب التّراثِ الإسلاميّ الّتي أخذت إهتماماً كبيراً عند المتعلّمين في العصور المتأخّرة، وأخصّ بالذّكر بلاد الرّوم، وذلك لأنّ صاحبه روميُّ الأصل، فهو أحدُ الكتب التّعليميّة الّتي عُنيَت بلغتنا العربيّة الشّريفة، وهو أيضاً شرحٌ لأحدِ المختصرات في التّصريف، وهذا المختصر (مراح الأرواح) واسع الإنتشار أيضاً، وقامَ على خدمة هذا المختصر مجموعةٌ كبيرة من العلماء في ما بعد القرن الثّامن، فبلغت شروحه ثمانية عشر شرحاً، من أشهرها هذا الشّرح الموسوم بــ (المفراح في شرح مراح الأرواح) للمولى حسن باشا بن علاء الدّين الأسود.
وقد دفعني إلى تحقيق هذا الشّرح عدّة أمور منها تلك الأمانةُ الملقاةُ على عاتقنا، وهي تحقيق التّراث ونشره ودراسته وإخراجه بصورةٍ تليق به، فينتفع به الرّاغبون من طلبة العلم في عصرنا، فأردتُ من هذا العمل التّراث الإسلاميّ.
ومنها أنّ هذا كتابٌ تعلميٌّ امتازَ متنُه بمنهجٍ مختلفٍ، فهو يسرد المادّة الصّرفية من خلال تقسيمه للأفعال، وهي عند صاحب المراح سبعة أبواب: الصحيح والمضاعف والمهموز والمثال والأجوف والنّاقص ثمّ اللّفيف.
وقد رأيت أنْ أقدّم بدراسةٍ لهذا الشّرح، فشملت الدّراسةُ جملةً من الموضوعات، فبدأت بالحديث عن المختصر (مراح الأرواح) وصاحبه، وتحدّثت فيه عن منهج المراح، ثمّ تبع ذلك الحديثُ عن الشّرح (المفراح في شرح مراح الأرواح في التّصريف) واشتمل الحديث عن المؤلّف وحياته، ثمّ منهجه في الشّرح، وإعتراضاته وترجيحاته، ثمّ الحديث عن إهتمام ابن كمال باشا بهذا الشّرح ونقوله منه وردوده على إعتراضات الأسود، ثمّ مقارنة مع شرحي المراح: شرح العيني وشرح ديكقوز، وختمت الدراسة بالحديث عن نسخ الكتاب المخطوطة، ومنهجي في التّحقيق.
