Book Description
إن كتاب سنن أبي داود للإمام سليمان بن الأشعث بن إسحاق بن بشير الأزدي السجستاني، إمام أهل الحديث في زمانه، وشيخ السُّنَّة، ومقدِّم الحُفاظ، ولد سنة (202هـ)، نشأ محبّاً للعلم والعلماء ولازمهم، وشرب معينهم، ولم يكد يبلغ مبلغ الرجال حتى أخذ على نفسه بالإرتحال، فطاف البلاد، وسمع من خلق كثير بالحجاز والشام ومصر والعراق والجزيرة وغيرهما مما أعانه على الإطلاق على أكبر قسط من الأحاديث التي غربلها، وأودع خلاصتها كتابه "السنن"، وقد قدم بغداد غير مرة، وحدَّث أهلها بكتاب "السنن"، بل يقال: إنه ألفه بها وعرضه على إمام أهل السنّة أحمد بن حنبل، فاستجاده واستحسنه، وكانت وفاة أبي داود بالبصرة حيث كان يسكن سنة (275هـ).
أما كتابه: فلم يختلف أهل العلم في تسميته بــ"السنن" لأنه رحمه الله نفسه قد سماه بذلك في "رسالته إلى أهل مكة"، ويُعدَّ الكتاب جامعاً لأصول المسائل والأحكام الفقهية، وقد ضمنه الأحاديث المشاهير، ولم يورد فيه الغرائب، ولقد قسم أبو داود الكتاب على الأبواب الفقهية، فبدأ بكتاب الطهارة، وأتبعه بكتاب "الصلاة"، إلى أن انتهى إلى كتاب الأدب، ولم يكن بكثر - في الغالب - إيراد الأحاديث في الأبواب، بل كان يكتفي بالحديثين والثلاثة في الباب الواحد.
كما كان يختصر الحديث لبيان الفائدة المُستدلِّ عليها بالحديث، لم يرو عن متروك الحديث فما دونَ، والمتروك هو المجمع على ضعفه، ولا يعتد به في المتابعات والشواهد.
