لأن مضمون هذا الكتاب على أهمية بالغة جداً، ولأن موضوعاته ذات صلة بضرورات الإعتقاد مرة، والتاريخ مرة أخرى، كان لا بد من بيان جملة المشروطات التي إعتمدت لتحصيل النتائج التي ساقها المؤلفان، وقد إلتزما في ذلك الأمور التالية: رواية الفريقين، شرط الخبرين، إعتماد الصحاح والمسانيد ثم المجامع، شرط الموطن، شرط الواسطة ( واسطة الحمل والتحميل... ) ، شرط الشيخ ( سمعاً أو حفظاً أو تدويناً: التدوين الطبقي )، طبقة القبول في كتب الخبر( بشرط القدامى والمتأخرين )، وحدة المعنى المركب من المواطن، رواية العين - راوي المشاهدة - ، رواية السمع – راوي الخبر سمعاً – وهو بالعادة من طبقة أخرى، وقد يكون من نفس الطبقة إلا أنه لم يحضر موطن الرواية فأخذه سمعاً، المطابقة بين رواية العين ورواية السمع، الإشارة إلى تحمل الخبر النبوي، ثم بيان شرط التحميل، أي نقل الرواية، كل ذلك على شرط الموجود، الشهادات والتعليقات والمحاكمات ضمن مشروطة الكتاب وغايته.
