يسعى كل مسلم بدافع الإيمان الكامل والحب الوافر لتتبع هدي النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم في كل شأنه، قدر طاقته، ولأن التطبب بطرائق تداوي النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم من الأسقام والأدواء يرجى منه البراءة والوقاية من هذه الأسقام، فقد طرح الكتاب جملة من المناقشات العلمية المتعلقة بالطب النبوي من حيث: المقصود به، وصحته وكيفية الإحتجاج به، وما آل إليه حال التأليف فيه، من إدخال ما ليس من هدي النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم فيه، سعياً من المؤلف لتنقية مباحث فقه الطب النبوي وتجريدها وتحقيقها.
سعى المؤلف من خلال هذه الدراسة، التي تصدر عن مركز نماء، للبرهنة على أن طرق إستثمار المعاني من نصوصها في عدد من كتب الطب النبوي غير متوافقة مع القواعد المتبعة، وأن ما تضمنته هذه الكتب من تكلف في إثباب أمور علمية تفتقر إلى إستعمال القواعد والمنهجات العلمية.
تركز جهد المؤلف على محاولة السعي لحماية سنّة النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم في باب "الطب النبوي" من التشويه والإساءة، وأن يدفع عنها ما قد دخلها ونسب إليها مما هو على التحقيق ليس منها.
