إن علم اللغة النصّي فرع علمي بكر، قدم للبحث اللغوي حوافز مهمة، فقد فتح لعلم اللغة بعداً معرفياً جديداً، أسهم بذبلك في إعادة تحديد الأسس النظرية لفروع لغوية كثيرة.
ويمثل التماسك النصّي الجانب الأساس في علم اللغة النصّي، فقد نال الإهتمام من علماء هذا العلم، إذ التماسك هو قوام النصّ، وقليلة تلك الدراسات التطبيقية العربية لمعطيات هذا العلم في مجال النصوص الشعرية عامة، والتي تحاول الكشف على مدى إستخدام وسائل التماسك وأدواته وعلاقاته الخاصة؛ لذلك وقع الإختيار على نصوص شعرية لشاعرة هي (الخنساء) لدراستها.
فقد هدفت الدراسة أولاً إلى إثبات تماسك النصّ الشعري على مستويات التماسك الأربعة (النحوي والمعجمي والدلالي والتداولي)، في محاولة لتعميق الفهم العام للنصوص الشعرية، ليس بإعتبارها نصوصاً لغوية فحسب، ولكن بإعتبارها مجالاً خصباً للتفاعل بين منتجي النصوص ومتلقيها؛ حيث إن هذه النصوص تتميز بطابع لغوي خاص، يختلف عن سائر ضروب الخطاب، وثانياً إلى بيان أوجه إستخدام وسائل التماسك النصي وأدواته وعلاقاته الدلالية، وما تؤديه الأفعال الكلامية من وظائف في النصوص موضوع الدراسة من شعر الشاعرة؛ لذلك اختيرت ست قصائد لدراستها.
