يجد القارىء لمجموعة الشاعر العراقي صلاح عوّاد الشعرية "ليس ثمة من يحتمي بي" إنه إزاء حضور مشخصٍ وكليّ للشخصية أو للراوي الضمني داخل القصيدة والذي يمثل الفاعل الرئيس فيها، وهو هنا الشاعر ذاته، فالخواطر تشكل المحلات النفسية لأحداث لصيقة بالشاعر وبتجربته الحياتية، وقد توفر ذلك في سياقٍ شعريٍّ قادر على الإيحاء بهذا النزوع نحو الداخل، داخل منطقة الشعر الحقيقي، الذي بدا صلاح عواد رواده.
من عوالم قصيدة الشاعر "ليس ثمة ما يحتمي بي" نقرأ:
"ليس ثمة من يحتمي بي / الجبال تناثرت كزجاج مكسورٍ / والأنهار سرّبت ما أخفته ذاكرتي من تداعيات / وكذلك هي الحياة / عظمٌ منحتَهُ لكلابٍ / أو لداهيةٍ في فم الذئب / ومثلما يستفيقُ الصبحُ مع المؤذنِ / وزعتُ ما تبقى من النهار / طعماً لقططٍ / كي يبقى فاهُ الحياةِ فاغراً إلى الأبد (...)".
وزع الشاعر مجموعته الشعرية هذه على قسمين القسم الأول ويضم (16) قصيدة ومنها: "مشروع قصيدة" ، "خفاش الليل" ، "لنرخي قليلاً خيوط السماء" ، "العتبة الأولى" ، (...). أما القسم الثاني ويضم القسم الثاني: (19) قصيدة، ومنها: "إنتظار" ، "مكابدة" ، "إنتحار" ، "جدل" ، "إستذكار" ، "تكوين" ، "ترتيل" وعناوين أخرى.
