يضم هذا الكتاب دراسة وتحقيق لمخطوط (إكمال أسماء رجال مشكاة المصابيح) لمؤلفه الإمام عبد الحق بن سيف الدين الدهلوي (ت 1052هـ) والذي يتضمن إكمال تراجم أسماء رواة أحاديث كتاب (مشكاة المصابيح) للإمام محمد بن عبد الله التبريزي (ت 732هـ) الذي هو أحد شروح كتاب (مصابيح السنة) للإمام الحسين بن مسعود البغوي (ت 516هـ) أن الإمام الدهلوي عندما ألفّ كتابه هذا أكمل وزاد على كتاب (أسماء الرجال مشكاة المصابيح) للإمام التبريزي (ت 732هــ).
ولم يتبع الدهلوي منهجية الإمام التبريزي وإنما وضع الخلفاء الراشدين في مقدمة المخطوط مترجماً لهم ومستفيضاً في ترجمتهم ثم انتقل إلى أولاد النبي صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم، ثم تناول تراجم آل البيت الطاهرين من عقب سيدنا الحسن والحسين، رضوان الله عنهم أجمعين، ثم أمهات المؤمنين زوجات النبي عليه الصلاة والسلام.
ولأهمية هذا الكتاب لما احتواه من سرد مهم لسير الخلفاء الراشدين وآل البيت الطاهرين والأحداث التي عاصرت حياتهم، هذا فضلاً عن كونهم رواه للحديث، اهتم بتحقيقه الأستاذ مجيد الآلوسي حيث ترجم لكل علم يرد عرضاً من النص، كما خرّج الآيات القرآنية الكريمة والأحاديث النبوية الشريفة مع بيان المواقع والمدن التي تضمنها المخطوط.
كذلك قام بتخريج ما ورد من أبيات شعرية، مع شرح الألفاظ اللغوية الغامضة والمبهمة، كما قام بتخريج وإيضاح بعض الآراء الفقهية الواردة في المخطوط.
