يحاول هذا الكتاب الإجابة عن سؤال محوري، هو: كيف يمكن أن تحقّق استراتيجيات التنمية الزراعية تعزيز الأمن الغذائي، وتخفيف الفقر، وترويج النمو الاقتصادي في العربية السعودية. وفق هذا جاء القصد الكلي في سياق محاولة تحديد دور الزراعة في تحقيق التنمية المستدامة.
وفي سبيل تحقيق ذلك استثمر المؤلِّف: تحليل سياسات الحكومة السعودية الخاصة باستراتيجيات التنمية الزراعية؛ تقويم آثار حجم وتنوّع استراتيجيات التنمية الزراعية في مختلف أقاليم العربية السعودية؛ تقصّي طبيعة التصرّفات والآراء حول مفهوم المسؤولية المؤسسية الاجتماعية؛ تحديد دور تضامن أصحاب المصلحة الأساسيين في تحقيق إستراتيجية التنمية الزراعية المستدامة؛ بلورة الإطار الفكري الذي يبيّن الصلة بين استراتيجيات التنمية الزراعية والتنمية الاقتصادية المستدامة في العربية السعودية.
لذا، يتوقع من هذا الكتاب أن يقدّم المعرفة التي تبيّن الطرائق الفاعلة في بناء السياسات والاستراتيجيات الزراعية، واقتراح أكثرها فاعلية مستقبلاً؛ إضافة إلى ما يمكن أن تعززه الاستراتيجيات المبلورة دور الزراعة في زيادة الرفاه الاقتصادي، بالعمل على زيادة الدخل وتوظيف العمالة، ورفع مستوى الاستيعاب في التعليم الأساسي وترقيته، وتحسين نوعية الحياة وجودتها، وتوفير الخدمات الصحية، وحفظ الموارد الطبيعية وصونها؛ وبالتالي وضع الإطار النظري الذي يبيّن ويحدد النقاط المهمة عند إعداد وتنفيذ استراتيجيات التنمية الزراعية المتعددة وتحديد طرائق وإمكانات التطبيق في محتوى عربي وسعودي.
