بهمّة المثقف العضوي، الذي لا يملّ البحث عن الحقيقة، يتناول "رضا عنتر" قضايا مهمة ومصيرية (لبنانية وعربية) في مرحلة يعترف الجميع بأنها مأزومة على غير صعيد، والأرجح أن الكاتب يستعيد في كتابه، حالة التوتر الثقافي والإخلال في القيم السياسية والإجتماعية السائدة وانقطاع التواصل الموضوعي مع المستجدات المعاصرة والحديثة، ذريعة ليدلو بدلوه في ما آلت إليه الأوضاع في لبنان ومحيطه العربي. ولا يخلو الكتاب أيضاً من نظرات ثاقبة في الكساد الفكري والثقافي الذي يلف العالم الآن.
في مقدمة كتابه يعتبر رضا عنتر "إن حالة التهرب من التمرد هو عدم استشعار بالمرارة والهم في واقع آزرت بأوضاعه مفاهيم تُصاغ ضمن الحركة الدائرية الشاملة للحياة. الإنسان مشروع متبدل يحرّف كل شيء تبعاً لحاجته، وإن لم يحرف يهمد ويخرّف ولا صلة لديه إزاء هذه الحالة إلا الغرق في لجّة الرتابة وعندها لن تعقد المسائل العقائدية ويتبدى العجز قاهراً في استرداد ما اختلسه الزمان عبر مدارس ثيولوجية كان قد أقام لها صرحاً (...) ".
