إنّ النحو قانون كلام العرب، والأوجه النحوية للتعبير الواحد ليست ذات دلالة معنوية واحدة، وإنما لكل وجه دلالته بدليل القرائن اللفظية والمعنوية، وكل إختيار أو عدول من وجه إلى آخر، وكل خروج من حد إلى آخر، يترتب عليه عدول من معنى إلى آخر، ولكل صيغة دلالة تختلف عن غيرها، وإن التقت معها في الأصل، لإختلاف المدلول الأصلي بالإستعمال وإختيار المتكلم، فنخرج من حد وضع لها أصلاً إلى غيره، لأن اللفظة تنصهر في السياق، ليضفي عليها معنى زائداً على معناها الوضعي، أو ينقلها إلى غيره بمعونة القرائن.
والنظام النحوي هو الرباط المعنوي الذي يضم متعلقات الصيغ الصرفية وما ناب عنها وما اقترن بها دليلاً عليها، لأن المعنى النحوي زائد على معاني الكلمات الإفرادية، فيعمل على تناسق الأسانيد بنسب تامة أو ناقصة بترتيب موضعي لمواقع مفرداته وإنسجام أصواتها بما يناسب المقام وحال المنتج والمتلقي، فهو تنظيم لتراكيب متنوّعة يصب فيها المتكلم أصواته وحروفه لتترجم عن أفكاره ومشاعره بحسب قوانين صوتية إجتماعية توصله بغيره بصور لغوية تعبيرية عن المراد بإظهار مكنونات الضمير، لتجلى صورة النفس بغية معرفتها بفهم دواعيها الطيبة أو الخبيثة.
ولبيان ذلك، جاء البحث موزعاً على فصول ومباحث إقتضاها الإلمام به، تقدمها تمهيد ضمّ خرق الحد والأصل والفرع وألقاب الإعراب لمعرفة مرونة الكلمة في التركيب، ولإظهار أثر ذلك في تغيير الدلالة، تناول الفصل الأول دوال الكلم لبيان مدلولاته، فدرس دلائل الإسم والفعل والحرف والتنكير، لقيام دلالة الجملة عليها بالتركيب، لأنه معنى زائد على معناها الوضعي.
وعني الفصل الثاني بدوال الأبنية، فتناول دلالة الأبنية، والموصول الحرفي، وصرف البناء وعلاقتها بدلالة الكلام.
واهتم الفصل الثالث بدوال الفعلية، لترددها بين معنيي الفعل والإسم، ولأنها أكثر حركة داخل النظم من غيرها بالتصريف والإشتقاق والتحويل، ولقبولها السوابق واللواحق التي توجه دلالتها بحسب المراد، وإختيار البناء المناسب للمقام.
