من يومنا هذا يتعاظم الإحساس بالحاجة إلى التحاق بالخصائص الروحية الخيّرة وتقوية العلائق بالله العظيم، وليصفو جوّ الإنسانية من النكبات والكدورات، وتتحول بذلك الوسائل المادية التي أصبحت ويلات على البشرية إلى بشائر خير وسعادة وهناء.
من هنا تأتي أهمية الصلوات والأدعية التي هي من أهم الوظائف الروحية الإسلامية، والتي هي سبلٌ للتوجه إلى الله وتوثيق الصلة به، فهي ليست نسكاً أو فراراً من مشاكل الحياة، وإنما هي استمداد من الله القدير في أزمات المسير، وتغير الطريق أمام السالك في مناهج التقى والرشاد، وأما الزيارات فهي لا تعدو أن تكون تقديراً لحماة الدين وعباد الله الصالحين، اقتضاها العقل السليم والنصوص القويمة وجرت عليها سيرة النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم وصحابته المكرمين، وقد ترك لنا الأئمة والعارفون بالله ثروة ضخمة في كيفية الصلوات والأدعية والزيارات السامية التي صيغت بأفصح العبارات.
وكانت بعيدة عن متناول العامة مكتنزة في سجلات ضخمة من كتب الأحاديث والأدعية لا يسهل للعامة اقتناؤها ولا حملها إلى المساجد والمزارات، فكانت الحاجة ماسة إلى كتاب سهل الاقتناء والحمل يحوي نخباً من شتات الصلوات والدعوات والزيارات وغيرها الواردة حسب اختلاف المناسبات، لهذا الغرض تمّ تأليف هذا الكتاب الذي جمع فيه الشيخ عباس القميّ أهم الصلوات والأدعية والزيارات الواردة حسب اختلاف المناسبات بما يفي بالحاجات العامة، متحاشياً فيه الإيجاز المخل والإطناب المخل، مكرساً جهوداً قيّمة لمجانية شوائب الدس والتحريف، بعد الأخذ عن أهم المصادر والأحوال المعتمد عليها.
وقد نال الكتاب إقبالاً منقطع النظير من فبل العارفين باللغة الفارسية، اللغة التي بها وضع الكتاب، فطبع منه عشرات الطبعات في خلال سنين معدودة. وليستفيد منه قارئ العربية تمت ترجمته في هذه الطبعة إلى اللغة العربية. وهي ليست ترجمة عادية، وإنما تطلبت من المترجم الرجوع إلى مصادر الأحاديث الضخمة كـ "بحار الأنوار" وغيره، بحثاً عن الرواية، التي اقتطفها الشيخ القميّ لهذا الكتاب، فتم وضعها نصوصها في مواضعها من الكتاب، صوناً لقدسية الأحاديث الشريفة.
