في مطلع القرن السادس عشر كانت سلطة البندقية لا تزال كبيرة، وكان (الدوج) ذا شأن عظيم، الأمر الذي أوجد الأطماع والغيرة عند بعض الذين كانوا يطمعون في تبوؤ هذا المنصب، لذلك عمد هؤلاء إلى تدبير مؤامرة أطاحت بالدوج وزجّت بإبنه في غيابة السجن، بعد أن جرّدته من كل شيء حتى من حبه ليلة خطبته.
هذا الإبن الذي ظُلم وعُذِّب، بعد أن عُذِّب والده وعُمِيَ ونُفِيَ، سيعود ليهز أركان عرش الحاكمية في البندقية، فبعد أن تزعّم عصابات الجبل إستطاع أن ينتقم من جميع الذين كانوا السبب في نكبة عائلته.
مع عصاباته وحب الشعب له تمكن هذا الشاب من إستعادة حقوقه وحقوق البندقين الذين وقفوا إلى جانبه ضد طغمة الإستبداد والإستعباد.
