وتناول الكتاب طبيعة وأغراض التحليل المالي وأهمية استخدام الأنظمة الحاسوبية في تنظيم البيانات المالية وعرضها بشكل يخدم عملية التحليل واتخاذ القرارات، وتضمن تحليل وتفسير القوائم المالية الرئيسية، وكذلك تحليل التدفقات النقدية وكيفية إعداد قائمة التدفق النقدي، واشتقاق المؤشرات التي يمكن الاعتماد عليها في تقويم الأنشطة المختلفة للمنشأة.
كما جرى التركيز في هذا الكتاب على القيمة الزمنية للنقود التي يستخدمها المستثمر في احتساب القيمة الحالية والقيمة المستقبلية لدفعة واحدة أو لعدد من الدفعات المتساوية أو غير المتساوية في حال كون الفائدة مركبة، وكذلك التركيز على دراسة عملية لتحليل التعادل باعتباره أداة من أدوات الرقابة وتخطيط العلاقة بين الأرباح والايرادات والتكاليف.
هذا وتناول الفصل الأخير تحليل الأوراق المالية المتداولة في السوق المالي، وما يوفره التحليل من مؤشرات تساهم في علمية اتخاذ القرارات بالنسبة للمستثمرين وإدارات المنشآت.
