(مرايا الأحوال) كتاب جديد للواء أ. د. ياسين سويد، وهو جولة في التاريخ والذكريات والوقائع السياسية، وهو أيضاً مجموعة من المقالات المرتبة ترتيباً زمنياً لتتناول شؤوناً لبنانية وعربية وتاريخية وعسكرية واستراتيجية وحتى أدبية. حيث تنظم هذه المقالات في ضبط رئيس يفصح عن انتماء اللواء سويد الى الاتجاه القومي العربي. ولعل أكثر المقالات اندراجاً في سياق هذا الاتجاه تلك التي تعالج تاريخية الكيان اللبناني. وفي هذا الميدان يعيد الكاتب سويد التأكيد "أن الكيان اللبناني ليس من صنع الكنيسة المارونية كما هو شائع، بل من صنع انكلترا وفرنسا والمنظمة الصهيونية العالمية وأخيراً الكنيسة المارونية" و"أن حدوده التي اعتمدت لاحقاً هي التي وضعها الجنرال دي بوفور دوتبور في سنة 1861". ويعتقد الكاتب أن لبنان لم يكن موجوداً إلا منذ سنة 1920 فصاعداً، وقبل ذلك لم يعرف التاريخ كياناً أو دولة باسم لبنان وأن ربط لبنان بفينيقيا هرطقة تاريخية ولا أساس لها من الصحة على الاطلاق.
وعن كتابه هذا يقول اللواء ياسين سويد: أسمى لأن أضع، بين يدي القارئ مجموعة من المقالات والأبحاث التي نشرتها، بعد تقاعدي، في عدد من المجلات والصحف اللبنانية والعربية، حيث عالجت فيها العديد من الأوضاع اللبنانية والعربية والعالمية، وقد زادت على الماية (...) وأما اختياري للعنوان "مرايا الأحوال" فهو مستمد من أن الأبحاث الواردة فيه تعكس أحوال البلاد والعباد في الفترة التي عشتها وكتبت عنها...".
