يقدم هذا الكتاب دراسة لديوان الشاعر رؤية بن العجاج وهو راجز، من الفصحاء المشهورين، من مخضرمي الدولتين الأموية والعباسية، وقد يكون لعمق المعاني وقوتها، وغرابة الألفاظ في رجز رؤبة، وأسلوبه التعليمي، وفنه اللغوي، السبب في إهتمام المستشرقين به أمثال وليم الواردور، جاير، وهو ما حدا بالخليل ابن أحمد أن يتحسَّر لوفاة رؤبة ويقول: (اليوم دفنا اللغة بدفن رؤبة).
ومن هذا المنطلق، اعتنى الدكتور راضي نواصرة برجز رؤبة ودراسته وشرحه ومعرفة أسلوبه وبيان خصائصه الفنية واللغوية والنحوية، من أجل إخراج هذا الرجز بثوب قشيب، وقد جاء تحقيق ديوان رؤبة في هذا الكتاب في بابين: الباب الأول: تعرض المحقق فيه لسيرة حياة رؤبة وشخصيته وظروفه الإجتماعية، وانتقل إلى التعريف بالرجز وأهميته الفنية، ونشأته، وتطوره حتى عصر رؤبة، ثم انتقل إلى الحديث عن آراء العلماء والنقاد في الرجز، وموقف الإسلام منه، ثم تحدث عن دور العجاجين في النهوض بالرجز والحفاظ عليه، ثم أسلوب رؤبة في الرجز، وانتقل إلى الحديث عن ظاهرة الإضطراب في نسبة رجز رؤبة، ثم قضية الوضع والنحل في رجزه، ثم تحدث عن الخصائص الفنية والبلاغية واللغوية والنحوية لرجز رؤبة، وتصرفه بالبناء اللغوية وتوليده للألفاظ اللغوية، وكثرة إستعماله للغريب والمعجم من الألفاظ، وقدرته على مخالفة قواعد النحويين، والتصرف بأبنية اللغة.
أما الباب الثاني: وفي الباب الثاني المحقق سرد الأراجيز حسب ما أوردها الديوان، وقام بشرح مفرداتها وشرح الأشطار في الأرجوزة الواحدة، وذكر الإختلافات في نص الشطر أو الأشطار ضمن الأرجوزة الواحدة، مع ذكر الإختلافات في الشروحات والمعاني لهذا الشطر أو الكلمة التي ترد في الشطر مع توثيق ذكر المراجع التي أوردت هذا الإختلاف، ثم ذكر الأراجيز التي لم يوردها الديوان وقام بتحقيقها تحقيقاً عملياً دقيقاً.
