عندما تفقد لورا أعز أصدقائها يتبدل كل شيء في حياتها، في البداية كانت تأمل أن تقضي حياتها بهدوء من غير ان تلفت أي إنتباه، هكذا ترى لورا نفسها دائماً، فتاة عادية بلا أي مميزات، ولكن أحداث غريبة تحصل لها لتؤكد حقيقة لم تعرفها من قبل... إنها مختلفة ولا يمكن أن تكون مثل الجميع.
في الجزء الثاني من: صوت صغير البلابل "سماء فارغة..." تكمل لورا رحلتها في إكتشاف الحقيقة عن نفسها وعالمها الجديد...
وعليه، فإن "لورا" بطلة الرواية تحمل قوتها في داخلها منذ كانت صغيرة، ولن يستطيع أحدٌ الوقوف أمام طموحها في إكتشاف، عوالم أخرى كانت تجهلها، وعلى الرغم من أن هذه العوالم مجافية للمنطق والعقل والطبيعة، إلاّ أنه لا مانع من المخاطرة في إدراك الوجه الآخر للعالم الذي تعيش فيه!!!....
من أجواء الرواية نقرأ: "هذا الإتجاه هو عالم ما وراء الحجاب فتظهر حقيقة الكون كما هو بالأساس وهنا تحوم الكائنات الشريرة كالعفاريت والشياطين وفي هذا العالم نستطيع نحن الساحرات مقاتلة المخلوقات الشريرة"، "أنت قلت أن عالم الوهم هو مجرد وهم أمام عالم ما وراء الحجاب... الذي من الواضح أنني أستطعت رؤيته؟".
