بين يدينا كتاب في الأدب وصفه المؤلف بعد أن أطلع على كتاب خلع العذار للصفدي ووجده ناقصاً الكثير من الأمور المتعلقة بالموضوع.
فلقد صرح بدر الدين المنهاجي (المتوفى سنة 993هـ) مؤلف كتابنا هذا في مقدمة كتابه أنه أطلع على كتاب الصفدي "خلع العِذَار في مدح العِذَار" ويحلّيه بالقصص والأخبار، وبدائع الأسمار، وقد قسم المنهاجي كتابه إلى مقدمة وخاتمة، جاعلاً المقدمة على فصلين:
-الفصل الأول: فيما قيل من نتائج الأفكار في محاسن العذار، وفيه لخص المنهاجي طرائق الشعراء في تناول العِذار، وهم عنده أربعة أقسام:
-القسم الأول: من هام بالمليح قبل بلوغه، وانفرد في وصف محاسنه قبل بلوغ ثمره.
-القسم الثاني: وهذا القسم الأعم لدى الشعراء جميعاً، إذ يهيمون بالمعذرين حال ظهور عذارهم.
-القسم الثالث: الهيام بالمُرد والمُعذّرين وذوي اللحى، ومن علاهم المشيب.
-القسم الرابع: من يؤوب بالعذار عن حبه، ويتوب إلى ربه.
الفصل الثاني" في ذكر ما قيل في المعنى البديع الغريب، في كامل اللحية وناتفها وحالقها.
الخاتمة: في ذم العذار والإقلاع عن الإصرار.
