حاصل على جائزة التفوق من جامعة براون (1998) ومن الجامعة الأمريكية في دبي American University in Dubai لعامين متتاليين (2010 و 2011) لتميزه في التدريس والأبحاث الادبية.

عبد الملك بالإنجليزية والعربية العديد من الكتب والمقالات التي عالجت موضوعات مهمة في الأدب العربي ومن مؤلفاته بالإنكليزية: كتاب (بلاغة العنف :المشترك بين العرب واليهود في الأدب الفلسطيني والسينما الفلسطينية المعاصرة 2005)؛ (التقليد والحداثة وما بعد الحداثة في الأدب العربي 2000) بالاشتراك مع وائل حلاق؛ (أمريكا في مرآة عربية : صورة أميركا في أدب الرحلات العربي، ما بين 1668 إلى 2009، 2011).
هذا بالإضافة إلى قيامه بتدريس العديد من المقررات المختلفة والتي تناولت: اللغة العربية المعاصرة، والتراث العربي، صورة أميركا في الأدب العربي، الحرب والسلام في الأدب العربي والسينما.
يقوم د.عبد الملك حالياً بتركيز اهتماماته البحثية على دور الأدب كأداة للسلام العالمي.

يقدم هذا الكتاب للمكتبة العربية - لأول مرة- نماذج مهمة من الكتابات العربية الخاصة بالرحلة إلى أمريكا والتي تغطي الفترة الواقعة بين 1668 وحتى عام 2000، كما يوضِّح بعض السمات المميزة لكتابات الرحالة العرب الذين زاروا أمريكا خلال هذه الفترة.
كما يقدم هذا الكتاب قائمة ببلواغرافية شاملة للرحلات العربية إلى أمريكا منذ العام 1668 وحتى العام 2000 والتي قام بها كتاب عرب، أغلبيتهم من مصر ولبنان وبلدان عربية أخرى وبعضهم من العرب الأمريكان، وهذه المختارات تزودنا بصورة أمريكا في خيال العرب وكيف تطورت عبر فترة زمنية طويلة.
إن صورة أمريكا التي تبرز من خلال هذه السرديات ليست متناغمة ومتناسقة فأمريكا تبدو وكأنها الآخر نقيض الذات العربية مروراً بأمريكا المرأة المغرية ووصولاً لصورة أمريكا الآخر الذي هو جدير بالثناء وبالتوبيخ معاً، وهذه الأعمال الأدبية تشكل نافذة هامة على العلاقات العربية الأمريكية نسعد بتقديمها للقراء ونأمل أن نقدم دراسة عنها في المستقبل القريب.
