في روايتها «رحمة» تتناول الكاتبة ناهد فرّان ظاهرة الإتجار بالبشر، وطرحها على اعتبار أنها قضية سياسية واجتماعية ونفسية؛ فتحيل إلى مسرح السرد نموذج المرأة باعتبارها موضوعاً لـ "النهم الجنسي" و"شهوة الامتلاك"، أو أنها مخلوق يُرهن وجوده بنوعية وظيفته، ودرجة امتثاله للنهم الذكوري. تلك هي بعض تجليات الألم السردي الذي تتسم به لغة رواية، تبدو جريئة، وحادة، وعارية، في وصفها عوالم الخواء والخراب الجسدي والنفسي للمرأة التي باتت ضحية الحروب والفقر والجهل والعادات والتقاليد...
في هذه الرواية تصوغ الروائية الأحداث السياسية روائياً، وتعتمد على توظيفها توظيفاً كبيراً في فهم النص الروائي، فتتوقف على ما يحدث في اليمن وسورية والعراق وسنجار ولبنان، وتنتقي شخصيات نسوية من ضحايا الحرب، فرحمة بطلة الرواية التي تعود بجذورها إلى الأخدام تبحث عن الفرصة لتبدأ حياة ثانية بعيداً عن واقعها، وصلت إلى لبنان للبدء بحياة جديدة ولم تكن تعلم أنها ستوضع داخل سجن للدعارة؛ الخروج منه ممنوع لأي سبب كان. وياسمين السورية كان يوم موت أخيها إثر الأحداث الدامية التي تعيشها بلادها، كان بداية النهاية لأيامها في حلب واتخاذ قرار المغادرة والهجرة مع من ظنته خطيبها لتفاجأ بوضعه إياها داخل سجن الرذيلة. وجيلان الأزيدية الهاربة من ظلم داعش في سنجار مروراً بسورية تنتهي بها الحال في لبنان لتزج بذات السجن، وغيرهن من الضحايا سيكنّ أدوات للترفيه في أكبر شبكة دعارة وإتجار بالبشر في لبنان.
أحداث مؤلمة، وعنفٌ مجنون، ومعاناة إنسانية، ومحن بشرية استثنائية، وذوات مقتلعة من مكانها، وماضيها المندثر، تحضر في هذه الرواية، تبوح لنا الكاتبة بأسرارها، وتقودنا إلى فهم جديد لِما يحدث ويستجد ويُفاجأ.
