في كتابه هذا، يحيط الدكتور محمد محروس آل محروس بكل ما يختص بالأورام السرطانية ويجيب على الأسئلة المهمة، كتلك المتعلقة بتقسيم الأورام، وكذلك الاستفهامات التي تناقش الفرق بين كل من الحميد والخبيث منها، ويناقش احتمالية انتقال الورم السرطاني الخبيث من موقعه الأولي.. إلى نسيج آخر قد يكون قريباً أو قد يكون بعيداً عن موقع نشوؤه، وهو ما سيدفع المؤلف لنقاش آخر حول آلية تحوّر الخلايا السرطانية وميكانيكية بحثها عن حياة في داخل الجسم البشري.
وفي الكتاب أيضاً يجيب المؤلف عن السؤال المتعلق بحدوث تغيرات في الموروث الجيني، بسبب التعرض لعوامل مُسرطنة؛ أي أنه سيقوم بتقديم الأسباب الرئيسة لتحول الخلايا السليمة إلى خلايا سرطانية على المستوى الخلوي. بعد ذلك يسلط المؤلف الضوء على ما يسميه بـ "نمط الحياة"؛ ومنه يناقش مثال لإحدى زوايا هذا العنوان المهم، ألا وهي زاوية الدهون والمواد الكربونية الضارة الموجودة، أو الناتجة عن بعض الأطعمة. ومن الحديث عن الدهون يتناول المؤلف دراسة أجريت على بعض الحيوانات في جامعة "ويك فوريست" والتي تدعم الفرضية القائلة: بأن تغير نسبة الدهون من نوعية "أوميجا - 3" إلى الدهون من نوعية "أوميجا - 6" في الأغذية الدهنية يُعد عاملاً من عوامل نشوء بعض الأورام السرطانية المعروفة والتي من ضمنها سرطان القولون وسرطان البروستات!
ويختتم الكتاب بموضوع "الأعراض"، الذي يحدد طبيعة الأعراض المبدئية حول موضع حدوث الورم السرطاني في الجسم... ومنه ينتقل للحديث عن علمية تشخيص الأمراض السرطانية بشكل عام.
