يعد الرمز ظاهرة فنية وجمالية وملمحاً تكوينياً مهماً في الأدب بعامة والشعر بخاصة، وهو من آليات الشعر الحديث، وكان للإتجاهات الأدبية والمدارس الفنية أثرها العميق في إستخدامه وكيفية ظهوره، فضلاً عن وجوده الداخلي في النص الشعري متغلغلاً فيه لغةً وإيقاعاً وصوراً وبناء، ما يجعله يخرج بلغة الشعر عن اللغة المألوفة إلى خلق لغة جديدة تتضمن رؤى معرفية وفنية تعبر عن تجربة المبدع الشعورية، لأن اللغة الوصفية بكل ثرائها وعمق دلالاتها تضيق إزاء أحاسيس المبدع وإنفعالاته.
لذلك فإن البحث عن لغة جديدة رامزة يمثل هاجس المبدع للكشف عن علاقات جديدة وتراكيب خاصة يحاول التعبير بها عن عالمه الخاص بتأسيس جديد لكيان الأشياء، عبر لغة لها فرادتها ودلالتها الثرية، لتتولد بعد ذلك أبعاد رمزية في النص محصلة تفاعل الشاعر فيما حوله ومع لغته للنفاذ إلى المضامين التوليدية الكامنة فيها، وقد تجلّى ذلك بصورة واضحة في دراستنا لجماليات الرمز في شعر سعيد عقل، والذي بدا فيه الرمز ذا مكانة مهمة في جسد النص الشعري لديه، فضلاً عن إكتسابه خصوصية تنبع من طبيعة الإرتباط بالطبيعة والكون والوجود، ما يولد من ثم طبيعة الجدل بين الإنسان وما حوله، وما يتولد عن ذلك من أنماط للصراع سلباً وإيجاباً.
