رغم مضي هذه المدة الطويلة على اكتشاف الديانة الزرادشتية وانتشار كتبها الدينية في أوروبا، فإننا نجد أن الآراء والمعلومات الرائجة من المعتقدات الزرادشتية تتركز حول ذلك التصور الخاطئ القائل بوجود إلهين أحدهما للخير والآخر للشر. يدور بينهما صراع مصيري شديد الوطأة، وهذا التصور خلط بين الزرفانية والزرادشتية وهو لا يزال سائداً هنا. ورغم العدد الضئيل نسبياً للذين يعتنقون الديانة الزرادشتية، حيث يقطن أغلبهم في الهند، فإن هذه العقيدة انتشرت انتشاراً واسعاً في العصور التي سبقت انتشار الدين الإسلامي، وقد برهنت على ذلك المكتشفات الأثرية الحديثة، وتركت تأثيراً كبيراً في العقائد والمذاهب ومدارس التصوف الدينية بحيث أن دراستها تتطلب بالضرورة دراسة الزرادشتية ومقارنتها بها. إن أي مقارنة بين العقائد لا تستطيع تجاهل الزرادشتية، بحكم القدم التاريخي لهذه العقيدة، والتفاعل التاريخي بين حضارات المنطقة التي هي من الديانات.
وهذا الكتاب يمثل مدخلاً أولياً يحيط بالمفاهيم والطقوس والشعائر الأساسية في الديانة الزرادشتية، وهو يقدم كافة الأجوبة من الأسئلة المتعلقة بهذه العقيدة. وهو يغني عن العودة إلى المصادر الأخرى. والهدف من ذلك تقديم معلومات ثقافية عامة من الزرادشتية، لذا فالكتاب ليس موجهاً للدارس المختص فحسب، بل للقارئ بصورة عامة.
