يضم الكتاب مجموعة من الأحاديث الصحيحة المنقولة من مصدرين عالمين: الإمام البخاري والشيخ القسطلاني، وقد تمّ تمييز لفظ حديث رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم بضبطه، وبفصل الشرح وإيضاح المعنى عنه. وجاء الكتاب مرتباً ترتيب البخاري لتسهل مراجعة الأصل، بالإضافة إلى ذلك تمّ وضع عدد للحديث وذلك لمعرفة الباب الموضوع له، وهو ما وضعه الإمام البخاري في روايته لهذا الحديث، مع المحافظة على لفظه. والإمام البخاري هو أبو عبد الله محمد بن إسماعيل البخاري، إمام المسلمين، كان حافظاً لعشرات الألوف من الأحاديث وهو في ريعان شبابه، وكان أهل المعرفة يتعادون خلفه في طلب الحديث، فيجلسونه في بعض الطريق فيجتمع عليه من يكتب عنه، وقد قام بتمييز الأحاديث الصحيحة من غيرها بعد أن عرف عللها ووجوهها معرفة لم تتم لأحد قبله، حتى صار نابغة زمانه، ونسيج وحده وفريد عصره والمقدم على جميع علماء الأرض. واستخرج كتابه "الجامع الصحيح" من ستمائة ألف حديث في ست عشرة سنة، فأجمع علماء السنة على أنه لم يكن فيها أصح منه، وتناوله العلماء شرحاً وتخريجاً واختصاراً وترتيباً بأوجه لا تتناهى، وصاحب هذا المؤلًّف هو واحد منه الذي نقل من كتاب البخاري سبعمائة حديث من أحاديث رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم. وأما الإمام القسطلاني الذي أخذ عنه مؤلف هذا الكتاب من الأحاديث المشروحة فهو العلاّمة الورع شارح سنة الرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم، أحمد بن محمد بن أبي بكر بن علي القسطلاني القاهري الشافعي، كان حافظاً لعدد من الكتب منها "الشاطبية" ألف هذا الشرح الحافل الوافي، وتصدى لبيان المعنى بكلام شفاف عذب، لذا عمد المؤلف إلى نقل بعض أحاديث هذا الشرح مرفقاً ذلك بشرح الكلمات الغامضة أو المعنى الخفي، جاعلاً الشرح بعد الحديث بينها فاصل، مكتفياً بضبط الأصل، تاركاً المعنى بلا ضبط.
