هذا ما يمكن أن نجد له جواباً في هذه الرواية، التي تتحدّث عن مجموعة من الشخصيات كل منها لها رغباتها وتطلعاتها. وهنا لا نريد أن نغفل ما يريد الكاتب أن يقوله. وهو يتناول بأسلوب سلس، غلب عليه طابع الحوار. هذه الحيوات ومصائرها، كل له طريقه وكل له آماله وكل له رغباته المحددة، وكل له تأريخه الذي يستعرضه المؤلف بشفافية. تجعلنا نقرأ باسترخاء أحياناً، وبنوع من القلق والتوتر أحياناً أخرى، متابعين مصائرهان وفي نفس الوقت نتابع ما يريد المؤلف البوح به عن مصير الحياة عبر هذه الشخوص.
لا يريد المؤلف أن يأسرنا بحدود ما رسمه للشخصيات، وإنما أراد أن يقول، ايضاً، أن للعالم صيرورة غير الصيرورة الحياتية البسيطة التي نحيي؛ مؤسسات تخطط، وصراع لا يبدو منه في العلن إلا ما تتناقله وكالات الأنباء والصحف، مغرقة أفكار الناس بما تريد أن يكون السقف الأعلى لتفكيرهم ونمط حياتهم.
فهل هذا كل شيء؟ لنقرا الرواية ونجيب بعد ذلك.
