يعد كتاب (فضائل أهل البيت) المسمى بـ (بصائر الدرجات) لمؤلفه ابو جعفر "الصفار" المتوفي سنة 290هـ من أهم الكتب التي تتحدث عن تراث الشيعة الأثني عشر وأئمتهم وخصائصهم لكونه يشتمل "على الأحاديث الواردة في مدائح الأئمة الطاهرين المتمسكين بشريعة سيد المرسلين..." جعله المؤلف في أبواب وبيَن ما فيها من علوم الدين الشيء الكثير ومنها: "باب في العلم أن طلبه فريضة على الناس"، "باب فضل العالم على الجاهل"، "باب في أئمة آل محمد"، "وباب في صفة رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وسلم) والأئمة (عليهم السلام) فيما أعطوا من البصر وما خصوا به من دون الناس ما يرون من الأعمال في النوم واليقظة"... إلى آخر ذلك من خصائص منَ الله عليها بآل محمد المنتخبين الطاهرين.
ومما يدل على أهمية الكتاب يقول المؤلف في المقدمة "... أن من تأمل الكتاب من أدلة إلى آخرة يرى أنه ليس فيه من حديث إلاَ وقد نقل بلفظه أو بمضمونه في كتاب الاختصاص للمفيد والتفسير للعياشي أو كتب الصدوق والكليني فمجرد عدم النقل لا يدل على وهن في الكتاب: والكتاب هذا عشرة أجزاء وكل جزء مقسم على أبواب مختلفة(...)".
