قام عدد كبير من أهل العلم على مرّ الأعصار، وفي مختلف الأمصار، بخدمة "جامع البخاري الصحيح" شرحاً، وتعليقاً، وضبطاً، وتوضيحاً، وغير ذلك من أعمال علمية باهرة. وكان من بين العلماء، والأئمة الذين أسهموا في تلك الجهود الإمام ناصر الدين ابن المنير الإسكندري، وذلك في كتابه النافع المستطاب "المتواري على أبواب البخاري" الذي بين أيدينا. وفيه اعتنى الإمام ناصر بالرد على "ابن بطال" بتسميته له بـ"الشارح"، كما واختصر فيه ما في كتاب البخاري من الأحاديث والأسانيد.
ولأهمية هذا المصنف عني بتقديمه في هذه النسخة محققاً ومضبوطاً، أما منهج التحقيق فيتجلى بـ: أولاً: الاعتناء باستنساخ الكتاب، ومن ثم مقابلته وإصلاح، ثانياً: ضبط نص الكتاب، ورقمه، وفصله، وكان هذا هو الهدف الأكبر من تحقيقه، ثالثاً: خرج الأحاديث النبوية الواردة فيه، رابعاً: وضع عناوين فرعية لمقدمة المصنف، كما وعني بتدوين ترجمة للمصنف، خامساً: صنع فهارس فنية مساعدة: 1-فهرس الكتب والأبواب، 2-فهرس الأحاديث، 3-فهرس الآثار، 4-الفهرس الإجمالي.
