جاء هذا الكتاب، ليسد النقص الموجود في مجال نباتات البيوت المحمية، وأمراضها وذلك في العالم العربي، ولأن البيوت المحمية أصبحت تنتج مدى واسع من النباتات سواءً كانت خضرة أو زينة او ما إليها.
لذلك كان لا بد من دراسة الأمراض النباتية التي تصيب النباتات المنزرعة داخل البيوت المحمية وطرق مكافحتها، ولقد خصص هذا الكتاب ليصف بصورة خاصة تلك الأمراض التي تحدث داخل البيوت المحمية وأهم الطرق اللازمة لمكافحتها.
ويحتوي هذا الكتاب على سبعة عشر فصلاً تشمل الموضوعات الآتية: المرض النباتي - تشخيص المرض، تجميع وتحليل الحقائق والمعلومات - الأعراض المرضية ووظائف النبات - تكشف الوباء - إستراتيجيات مكافحة المرض - المبيدات الفطرية وإستعمالاتها.
وإبتداءً من الفصل السابع نجد المؤلف قد إنتقل إلى بعض أنواع النباتات مثل الطماطم - الخيار - الخس - عيش الغراب - الفلفل والباذنجان - القرنفل - الكرايزنثيمم "الأراولة - الفريزية - الورد - نباتات الأصص.
وقد تناول المؤلف تجهيزات ما قبل الزراعة، التكثير، الزراعة، ثم الأمراض والتعفن الذي يصيب النبات، وطرق المكافحة، وقد استعرض المؤلف في إيضاح ما سبق كماً هائلاً من الصور التي تبين وتوضح نوعية المرض الذي يصيب النبات.
وفي نهاية الكتاب نجد أهم المصطلحات العلمية الواردة في الكتاب، فالمراجع، وأخيراً فهرس الجداول وفهرس الأشكال.
