يعدّ هذا الكتاب من أهم المصنفات المختصرة التي خلفها الإمام تقي الدين الفاسي فيما يتصل بتاريخ مكة المكرمة. فقد احتوى هذا الكتاب على لب لباب كتاب المؤلف الهام "شفاء الغرام بأخبار البلد الحرام" وزاد عليه في مواطن مختلفة. يسوق المؤلف في هذا الكتاب أخباراً عن مكة المشرّفة وحكم بيع دورها وأجاراتها، وأسمائها، وحرمها وحدوده، وشيء مما يختص بذلك من المسائل، وفضل الحرم ومكة والصلاة فيها على غيرها، وغير ذلك من فضلها، وحكم المجاورة بها، وفضل الموت فيها، وفضل أهلها، وفضل جدّة والطائف، وغير ذلك من خيرها، وأخبار الكعبة المعظمة وفضلها، وفضل الحجر الأسود والركن اليماني، وفضل الأعمال المتعلقة بالكعبة، وخبر الحجر الأسود والحِجر، ومقام الخليل عليه السلام. والأماكن التي صلى النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم فيها حول الكعبة، والأماكن التي يستجاب الدعاء فيها بمكة وحرمها، وخبر المسجد الحرام وزمزم وسقاية العباس رضي الله عنه، والأماكن المباركة بمكة وحرمها، والأماكن التي لها تعلق بالمناسك، وما علمه من المآثر بمكة وحرمها، وأخبار جاهلية وإسلامية لها تعلق بالحجاج، وغير ذلك، وما علمه من ولاة مكة في الإسلام على سبيل الإجمال.
