ما من عاقل في عالمنا العربي الواسع إلا وهو يدرك أن ما يروج عن المرأة في وسائل الإعلام والاتصال ليس على ما ينبغي أن يكون عليه. فلا يكاد يخلو مؤتمر أو بحث عن المرأة والإعلام على التأكيد أن تلك الوسائل تسيء إلى صورة المرأة بل تشوهها أحياناً.
أراد مركز المرأة العربية للتدريب والبحوث "كوثر" وصندق الأمم المتحدة الإنمائي للمرأة "اليونيفيم" الوقوف عند نظرة الباحثات والباحثين في مجال المرأة والإعلام والاتصال إلى جوهر القضية العلاقة القائمة بين هذا الحقل والمرأة.
ويشكل هذا الكتاب خلاصة بحث علمي ميداني في الموضوع الذي سبقت الإشارة إليه فجاء مشتملاً على إطار عام يحدد الموضوع والأهداف والمنهجية المتبعة. ثم تناول في الباب الأول المشهد الإعلامي العربي متوقفاً عند عصر الفضائيات، وعصر "الأف أم" ومركزية الصحافة المكتوبة وعصر الإعلام الإلكتروني والإعلاميات في المشهد العربي.
وخصص الباب الثاني لتحليل البحوث العربية ووسائل الإعلام متوقفاً عند المرأة: العقل المغيب، الجمهور الحاضر، طغيان تحليل المضمون. وأخيراً هناك الخاتمة التي تضمنت نتائج وتوصيات. وإتماماً للفائدة ذكرنا الببليوغرافيا التي قد تساعد الباحثين والمهتمين في المستقبل.
ما نطمح إليه هو تزويد المكتبة العربية بخلاصات أبحاث جادة ورصينة تصلح مراجع أكاديمية للدارسين والباحثين، ومادة غنية لقراء العربية.
