ترجم هذا الكتاب عن الجزء الثاني في كود البناء الموحد الأمريكي (Uniform building code- UBC97) و الخاص بتصميم المنشآت لمقاومة الزلازل, مع بعض الإضافات الموجزة. ويشمل في قسمه الأول: معلومات من الكود السوري, اشتراطات عامة للعناصر الخرسانية المسلحة, افتراضات أساسية في تحليل المنشآت, حالات الحدود القصوى, جداول و معلومات أساسية و هي: جداول السماكات التي تحقق مقاومة الحريق, جداول خاصة بالعينات الخرسانية, الأوزان الحجمية لبعض المواد الأكثر استعمالاً, تخفيض الحمولات الحية في المباني متعددة الطوابق, التغير الحجمي للخرسانة بفعل التقلص, معامل مرونة الخرسانة, حمولات الثلج على المنشآت, حمولات الجدران الخفيفة على السقوف, تراكيب الأفعال القصوى, الحمولات الحرارية. و يشمل القسم الثاني معلومات من الكود الأمريكي ACI-312, اشتراطات عامة للخرسانة و التسليح, متطلبات خاصة ببعض العناصر الإنشائية, اعتبارات عامة في التحليل و التصميم الإنشائي, متطلبات خاصة بالتصميم الزلزالي. و يشمل القسم الثالث معلومات من الكود الأمريكي BS8110, اشتراطات عامة للخرسانة و التسليح, تصميم العناصر الإنشائية. و يشمل الكتاب ملحق عن الخرسانة المقذوفة, تعريفها, أهم الاستخدامات, أهم مواصفات الخرسانة المقذوفة, الاختبارات على الخرسانة المقذوفة, مراقبة العمل خلال التنفيذ, مقاومة خلطات الخرسانة المقذوفة, مزايا و مساوئ استخدام الخرسانة المقذوفة في التدعيم, التجهيزات اللازمة لإنتاج و تنفيذ الخرسانة المقذوفة, تنفيذ الخرسانة المقذوفة و استخدامها في أعمال التدعيم, تدعيم البلاطات باستخدام الخرسانة المقذوفة, مثال عددي على تصميم الخلطة.
