يهدف هذا البحث إلى تأسيس نظر جديد في التعامل مع قوانين العربية وسننها، ويقوم على الأخذ بالحسبان دائماً-عند القيام بتعقيد القواعد-نوه المتعلم إن كان ناطقاً بالعربية أو بغيرها، ونوع الخطأ اللغوي الذي يجترحه، ويهدف أيضاً إلى لفت أنظار الباحثين إلى أن النحو الذي يجب أن يقدم لمتعلمي العربية، لا بد أن يكون "نحوين" لا نحواً واحداً، نحواً خاصاً بالمتعلمين من الناطقين بغير العربية، ونحواً خاصاً بالناطقين بالعربية.
ويحاول البحث أن يدرس نحو الناطقين بغير العربية على أساس أنه منقسم إلى قسمين. الأول ينتمي إلى فكرة "النحو المشترك" أي النحو الذي يحتاج إليه كل متعلمي العربية، من الناطقين بغيرها، والناطقين بها. وينبغي تقديم هذا النحو المشترك بكيفية تداعي فيها المشكلات اللغوية لدى الكل. وأما القسم الثاني لنحو الناطقين بغير العربية، فيعود إلى فكرة "النحو الغائب" وهو نحو لم ينص عليه النحاة ولا يحتاج إليه الناطقون بالعربية. كما يسعى البحث إلى التنبيه إلى أن ثمة نقصاً في كتب تعليم العربية، وأحدثه ابتعاد هذه الكتب في كثير من الأحيان عن مواكبة التطور الذي يشهده الدرس اللساني المعاصر.
وبالعودة لمضمون هذا البحث نجد أنه قد جاء مشتملاً على تمهيد، وثلاثة فصول وخاتمة، فأما التمهيد فقد خصص للحديث عن الشكوى من النحو، وهي-فيما هو معروف-شكوى قديمة حديثة في آن معاً، ويذهب البحث في فصلع التأسيسي النظري الذي هو الفصل الأول إلى أن "النحو العربي" المدون في كتب النحاة لم يصمم منهجياً لغايات تعليم العربية للناطقين بغيرها. وأما الفصلان الثاني والثالث فقد احتويا على مباحث لغوية يسعى الباحث من وراء التصدي لها بالدرس والتحليل إلى محاولة تطبيق بعض الأفكار النظرية الواردة في الفصل الأول، وتشكل هذه المباحث بمجموعها، قسماً من نحو العربية الذي ينشده الباحث، ويرى أن من الواجب تقديمه للمتعلمين من الناطقين بغير العربية.
