لأن التدافع الفكري بين مرجعيات التيارات الفكرية المختلفة هو المرآة التي تعكس طبيعة أفكارها؛ فبضدها تتبيّن الأشياء.
ولأن الكشف عن طبيعة الظاهرة الإسلامية يحتاج إلى الكشف عن طبيعة الأفكار التي تجادل حولها.
والحالات الإسلامية في الوطن العربي تتنوع من حيث طبيعة جدلها مع التيارات الفكرية الأخرى، إلا أن واحدة من أهم تلك الحالات هي الحالة المغربية، والتي بفعل مجموعة من العوامل الفكرية والسياسية والجغرافية، كانت من أنضج الحالات في طبيعة هذا الجدل.
لذلك تحاول هذه الدراسة أن ترصد عدد من أبرز قضايا الجدل بين التيار الإسلامي والتيار العلماني في المغرب، كالجدل حول سؤال المرجعية، والموقف من الحركة الإسلامية، والمرأة، ومسألة اللغة والهوية، والمسألة الفنية، لعلها أن تكون فاتحة طريق لدراسة حالات مماثلة بمقاربات مختلفة من أجل تطوير طبيعة الأفكار التي يتم حولها التدافع، حتى لا يضيع الجهد الفكري في مدافعة مجموعة من الأفكار الأقل مركزية في مقابل تهميش أفكار أخرى أكثر مركزية ومحورية من سابقتها، وحتى تتم تلك المدافعة بالأساليب الأكثر نُضجاً ونجاعةً وتأثيراً.
