ابن حزم: هو أبو محمد علي بن أحمد بن سعيد بن حزم الأندلسي (384- 456هـ)، ذلك المفكر الظاهري الموسوعي الذي شمل فكره كل الميادين، من فقه وكلام وفلسفة وتاريخ ومنطق وأخلاق وأدب وتاريخ أديان، والذي لقي من أهل عصره أقسى ضروب الجحود والنكران.
لقد اضطر في كثير من الأحيان إلى الهجرة والتنقّل بين البلدان، ثم شاء الله أن يكافئه بعد موته، فوقف المنصور الموحدي، ثالث خلفاء الموحدين، على قبره خاشعاً يتساءل: "عجباً لهذا الموضع يخرج منه مثل هذا العالم"، ثم يلتفت إلى من حوله ويشهد شهادة التاريخ الحق قائلاً: "كل العلماء عيال على ابن حزم".
وما يهمنا هو القول أن هناك جوانب من فكر إبن حزم لم تدرس بعد "دراسة أكاديمية" منها آراؤه الأخلاقية والمنطقية والميتافيزيقية، وهذا ما دفعنا إلى إختيار أحد هذه الموضوعات كموضوع لبحثنا، ألا وهو آراء إبن حزم الميتافيزيقية وبصيغة أكثر تحديداً "آراء إبن حزم في الصلة بين الله والعالم".
إن هذا الكتاب هو محاولة للتعريف بجانب مهم من أفكار هذا المفكر الموسوعي، أرجو أن أكون قد وفقت في ذلك، والله نسأل أن يهدينا سواء السبيل ويهيء لنا من أمرنا رشداً.
