هو سيرة ذاتية معززو بالوثائق لأحد علماء العراق الأعلام، الذين قضوا حياتهم في التربية والتدريس، وتقديم النصح للحاكم والمحكوم، والجهاد لإعلاء كلمة الحق في مختلف الميادين، إمام أهل السنة، الشيخ أمجد الزهاوي.
لقد تناول الكتاب عصر الشيخ الزهاوي، ونشأته وتطور حياته، ثم تعرض لشخصيته محللاً أعماله وخدماته وأدواره في مختلف المجالات، ثم ذكر بالتفصيل بعض مواقفه وآرائه وأحاديثه، واختتم بذكر آثاره من رسائل ومقالات وخطب وفتاوى ومقابلات.
وقد بذل المؤلف -السيد كاظم المشايخي- جهداً كبيراً في تجميع الوثائق الرسمية وغير الرسمية التي كادت أن تجعل الكتاب أقرب إلى الوثائقية منه إلى السيرة الذاتية السردية المألوفة.
ثم أضافت المحررة -السيدة زينب طاهر- إليه من قلمها ما جعله وسطاً بين الوثائقية والسردية، كما أضافت مقدمة الدكتور طه جابر العلواني بعداً فكرياً للكتاب وضعه في إطار تيارات الإصلاح التي ما انقطعت روافدها عبر تاريخ الأمة الإسلامية المديد.
