هذه الرسائل وجدت في أنقاض معبد عشتار ودير أفقا حيث نشأ أجيال من بنات كنعان وآرام وأقوام المشرق، وحيث حجت سميراميس في كل صيف، وشقت لعرباتها طرقات في الصخر والوعر حيث لم يكن مر أنس ولا جان ولا وحش ولا طير. هذا الدير-المدرسة-المعبد-القدموسية دام منذ غرة الزمان حتى العام 550/م وهدمه البيزنطيون لإلغاء آخر أثر من ديانة عشتار. ولكنهم لم يعمروا غيره على اسم أحد. وحجارته المردومة حتى اليوم تبكي من بناها ومن تعبد فيها، وتلعن معاول التهديم. النبع المقدس لا يزال يغذي النهر-نهر إبراهيم-، ومرابع أدون ومشهده لا تزال خضراء دائرة وحشية وعلى بهاء البدائية الأخاذ.
رسائل أفقا أفصحت عن الأسطورة المعاصرة والأزلية. وأفقا هي الأرض ذاتاً لم تتبدل. وعشتار هي حواء المرأة الجمال الغوي الدلال الحب الانتقام الندم الوفاء الغدر الخصب الحنان الأم العشقية، الأفعى الآلهة. هي ألف هوية في واحدة. هي ربة السماء والأرض والجحيم والنعيم والحياة والموت والقيامة والخلود. غنوجة الجميع وذات دل إلا عند الفنيق الأشبهي. هكذا تقول الأسطورة والرسائل والأثر. وهكذا سيقول الناس.
