يعد كتاب "تهذيب الأصول" لفقيه عصره السيد عبد الأعلى الموسوي السنبرواري من كتب الفقه المعتبرة على مذهب أهل البيت عليه السلام وهو خلاصة ما حققه المؤلف ومهره المشايخ المبتكرين في هذا الباب. وقد جاء بعبارات سهلة وجمل مفيدة خالية من الزوائد، مشتملة على كثير من الفوائد، وقد سماها المؤلف بـ (تهذيب الأصول) عن الزوائد والفضول، والكتاب يتألف من مقدمة ومقاصد ثلاثة:
1- المقدمة: وفيها أمور عامة مثل تعريف الأصول، وفضله وغايته، ومرتبته ويعني به المؤلف "علم الفقه وهو ما يبحث فيه عن وظيفة الإنسان من حيث الشريعة".
2- المقصد الثاني: في الملازمات العقلية بقسميها – المستقلة وغير المستقلة – كمقدمة الواجب، ومسألة الضد، ومسألة النهي في العبادة.
المقصد الثالث: في ما يصح الإعتذار به، كمباحث القطع، والإمارات، والأصول العملية، والإجتهاد والتقليد.
ويضيف المؤلف: أن جميع مباحث الألفاظ في هذا العمل ترجع إلى تشخيص صغريات أصالة حجية الظهور، التي هي من أهم الأصول النظامية العقلانية ... ولا يخفى أن الأصول لـ مقدمة وآلة للتعرف على الفقه، وليس مطلوباً بالذات، فلا بد أن يكون البحث فيه بقدر الإحتياج ...". وهكذا يشرح هذا الكتاب العديد من المسائل الفقهية المختلف عليها بين المذاهب ويوضحها ويشرحها بالإستناد إلى أهم الكتب والمصادر الفقهية للأئمة عليهم السلام.
