ترتكز قصائد الشاعر الصهيب العاصمي في مجموعته المعنونة (إلا أنا) على البعد الروحي الإيماني، وتتآلف صورها الشعرية في تناغم شبيه بتناغم الروح لدى المؤمنين، بكل تلقائية ويسر وكأن القصيدة عنده سر الأسرار الذي تنجذب إليه كل تساؤلات الشاعر، التي جاوز فيها العاصمي الإستجلاء، ليغوص من خلالها في حضوة الرؤيا الكشفية القائمة على الإتحاد والحلول؛ كالعارف والمريد الذي يتخطى العوالم الحسّسة في محاولة شجاعة لاعتلاء عوالم أسمى حيث تطغو الحقائق الروحية (المقدسة) بكل معانيها وتجلياتها.
في القصيدة المعنونة "الروح" يقول الشاعر الصهيب العاصمي:
" أزِلِ الدواةَ خذِّ القلم / الحبرُ أصدقُهُ دمي / ومشاعري خطُّ الألم / يا صاحبيَّ القيدُ ليسَ لشاعِرِ / ما قطُّ يوماً إنتقم / لو أنّهُ الثورات من فوق القمم / لو أن رايته يعانقها العلم / (...) لرأيتُه / كالنور ضوَّءَ وابتسم".
هكذا يتحول الشعر إلى كينونة متصلة بذات من يكتب وخاصة عند شاعر قصائده تبدو كالبدر في أحلى الصور قائمة على الغنائية والكثافة والإيقاع اللغوي المناسب لتجسيد كل حالة.
يضم الكتاب قصائداً في الشعر العربي الحديث وأخرى في الشعر الموزون والمقفى (شعر التفعيلة) جاءت تحت العناوين الآتية : "تميز" ، "الحب" ، "لك" ، "رحلة صيد" ، "وطني" ، "الله" ، "الأعذب" ، "إلا أنا" ، "ضدان" ، "قسم" ، "أغنية" (...) وعناوين أخرى.
