ما زالت شجرة اللغة العربيّة الوارفة تتدلى أغصانها، دانية قطوفها، تحتاج إلى عناية أبنائها، فجاءت هذه الأبحاث لتكشف جانباً يسيراً من أسرارها، فكانت منوّعة من اللغة واللهجات والمعجم العربيّ، جادت بها القريحة خلال عشر سنوات ونيّف، رأيتُ أن أجمعها في عنوان الحضارة ووعائها، الكتاب الذي يبقى ونفنى عنه؛ رغبةً في عميم من الفائدة أعمّ، ومزيدٍ من الإنتشار أزيدَ.
وطفتُ فيه مع ومضات لغويّة، ونفحات علميّة من التوهّم في العربيّة، والإستغناء، والتأرجح بين الغلط والتأويل في باب العطف، وبعض أحكام التقويم اللغويّ، وتداخل اللهجات وتركبها، ومظاهر من رسوباتها في عربيتنا الدارجة، وأحيينا فيه ذكر الممات من الكلمِ، وطفتُ فيه مع مناكير الأزهري على ابن دريد، ومآخذ ابن فارس عليه في (مقاييس اللغة).
وكانت موضوعاته منطلقاً لكتاب جديد (رؤى غائبة في الصّرف العربيّ) سنقدمه للباحثين عن الغائب من حقائق اللغة.
