يكاد يجمع معظم النقاد على أن القصة القصـيرة جداً، ينبغي أن تتوفر فيها شـروط عدة، منها الكثافة اللغوية، وأن تكون كل لفظة موحية بأجواء عامة واسعة، ثم المفارقة، التي تعني مفاجأة المتلقي بأمر لم يكن يتوقعه، وأن يكون فيها شـيء من عناصـر القصة، من حدث وتسلسل وحوار بصورة مكثفة موجزة.
بدا بوضوح أن علي القيـسـي يدرك تماماً حدود هذا النوع من القصص القصيرة جداً، ويتعامل معه بسلاسة وحرفية، نقرأ هنا قصصاً تشدنا ولا نقرأ عبارات غائمة، نلمس وضوحاً ولكنه ليس وضوحاً ساطعاً ساذجاً، نجد الكلمة الشفافة الموحية، وليس كلمات طائرة.
في هذه الصفحات نلمس ازدحام المدينة وموتها، وسلوكيات غريبة، ونلمح صوراً للفساد، بدء من المتسول المخادع، إلى كبار الموظفين. نشاهد منافقين، يتسـربلون لباس الدين،،، وأطباء يتاجرون بالإنسان، وعلاقات جافة قائمة على المصلحة، نلمس ذلك كله عبر سـياق فني بعيد عن المباشـرة وعن الاستعلاء والتشدق والخطاب المنبري، وأعرف تماماً صعوبة تصوير الواقع بوساطة هذا النمط من القصص، وأعرف ما يمكن أن يقع فيه القاص من أسـر الأطر التقليدية الجافة، أو ما يمكن أن يقع فيه من ضبابية وغموض ليتجنب تلك الأطر والقواعد حتى لا يكون فنه صوراً جامدة، لكن قصص هذه المجموعة نجحت في تقديم شـيء ممتع مميز يرفع من قدر الفن ومن قدر الإنسان.
