تُعد المقاومة الفلسطينية مقاومة للتمركز الصهيوني بأرض فلسطين، وقد بدأت بالحركات الاحتجاجية والإضرابات، ثم الحركة المنظمة المتمثلة في تكاتف جهود المواطنين الفلسطينيين من خلال المناهضات والاحتجاجات السياسية من جهة، والنشاط الصحافي والثقافي لتوعية الفلسطينيين بخطورة المشروع الصهيوني من جهة أخرى بالمقاومة والنضال الحقيقي المنبعث من الانسان ذاته الذي يعيش ضمن الواقع.
والشاعرة فدوى طوقان إحدى أعلام الشعر الفلسطيني الذي تحدث في مضامينه عن هذه القضية الإنسانية، وكلما كان العمل الأدبي أكثر اتصالا بالواقع، كان أعمق إنسانيا، وشملت الإنسانية في معناها عند فدوى طوقان جميع الفضائل التي تتمثل في الخير والمحبة والعدل الإنساني الذي من خلاله تتحقق أسمى وأنبل الغايات التي تسمو لتكوين عالم يعمه الإخاء الإنساني والوحدة التي لا تفرق بين وطن أو قوم أو دين.
وقد دعت الشاعرة من خلال شعرها الإنساني إلى القيم الأخلاقية وحماية الحقوق المغتصبة، ومحاربة الظلم وأشكاله، وإذكاء الثورة والدفاع عن الوطن، والاستقلال ومحاربة المستعمر، ولم تكن دعوتها تشمل فلسطين فقط بل هي عامة للشعوب العربية بشكل عام، فخطابها الشعري انبعث من الذات الإنسانية والإحساس بالآخر.
