وقد تم تقسيم هذا الكتاب إلى ثلاث فصول رئيسية تناولنا في الفصل الأول تكنولوجيا المعلومات والإعلام الجديد في محاولة لتقديم مدخل مفاهيمي وهذا بالاعتماد على أربع دراسات، تمحورت الدراسة الأولى حول إعادة النظر في مفهوم الإعلام التقليدي والدخول في زخم الإعلام الجديد، كما جاءت الدراسة الثانية حول دور أنواع تكنولوجيات الاتصال والإعلام في خلق ظاهرة مجتمع المعلومات، وتناولت الدراسة الثالثة الأقمار الاصطناعية كأهم وسيلة في ثورة الاتصال، والدراسة الرابعة حول البث الفضائي العربي كنموذج لثورة الاتصال.
ثم الفصل الثاني الذي عُنون بالتنظير في مجال الإعلام الجديد وتكنولوجيا الاتصال، والذي قسم بدوره إلى ثلاث دراسات، جاءت الدراسة الأولى حول مفهوم نظريات ونماذج الاتصال، والثانية حول أهم التنظيرات في مجال تكنولوجيا وسائل الاتصال الحديثة، والدراسة الثالثة حول نظرية تمثيل المعلومات وتطبيقاتها في مجال الاتصال.
