تتناول هذه الدراسة تطوّر الأحداث الّتي أدّت إلى قيام الدولة التّركيّة، والسياسة القوميّة العلمانيّة المتطرّفة الّتي تبنّاها مصطفى كمال، مؤسّس هذه الدولة، واستهدفت التحديث والتغريب الكاملين للدولة والمجتمع، وسار على نهجها خليفته عصمت إينونو؛ وهي السياسة الّتي قامت على اعتماد الحزب الواحد (حزب الشعب الجمهوريّ) في حكم الدولة وإدارتها.
تتناول الدراسة، أيضاً، التقلّبات السياسيّة الّتي أدّت إلى انتقال السلطة من حزب الشعب إلى أحزاب أخرى؛ وانقلاب الجيش عليها أكثر مرّة، في محاولة منه للحفاظ على الأتاتوركيّة وإثارتها.
ثمّ تتطرّق الدراسة إلى المرحلة الجديدة، الّتي دخلتها تركيّا بعد نهاية الحرب الباردة، وإلى صعود الإسلاميّين ووصلهم إلى سدّة الحكم بقيادة أربكان، ثمّ عودتهم ثانية بقيادة أردوغان.
هذه الدراسة موجزة لتاريخ تركيّا الحديث، الّتي ما انفكّت، منذ ثمانينات القرن العشرين، تلعب دوراً مهمّاً في منطقتنا، وتؤثّر في قضايانا العربيّة.
