" لما كانت السنة الوحي الثاني بعد المتشابه المثاني، وجب على كل ذي لب حفظها وذكرها وتعليمها ونشرها، ومن المعين على ذلك: معرفة أوضاع إصطلح عليها حملتها، ورسوم بينها نقلتها "، وهو ما أضحى علماً قائماً بذاته يسمى علم مصطلح الحديث. وقد ألف العلماء التصانيف الكثيرة في هذا العلم، من مبسوط ومتوسط ومختصر، ومنثور ومنظوم. وهذا الكتاب هو ضمن هذه المؤلفات التي تطرقت إلى هذا العلم، فقد إرتأى هشام الحسيني أن يجمع ما وقف عليه من شروح لهذه القصيدة، فجاء هذا الكتاب الذي ضم بين دفتيه أربع رسائل في شرحها وهي: الرسالة الأولى: شرح العلامة الأمير المالكي، وقد جعلته أولاً وإن كان التاريخ يقتضي جعله آخراً، لأنه أوفى هذه الشروح الأربعة وأوسعها، ولذا قدمه وحشي عليه بحاشية تبسط معانيه، وتفصل مجمله وتكشف غامضه، وسماها بالبيان والتوضيح لما إستغلق من مبهمات الشرح المليح. وقد إعتمد في ضبط نص المخطوط على نسخة نفيسة من مخطوطات الأزهر الشريف. وشرح في الرسالة الثانية منظومة إبن فرح للحافظ إبن عبد الهادي الحنبلي، وقد طبعت ضمن مجموع رسائل إبن عبد الهادي، وقد إعتمد في ضبط نصها على نسخة مخطوطة من مخطوطات جامعة الملك سعود بالرياض. أما الرسالة الثالثة: زوال الترح بشرح منظومة إبن فرح لإبن جماعة الكتاني، وقد إعتمد في ضبطها على النسخة المطبوعة بمدينة ليدن بمطبع بريل. وشرح في الرسالة الرابعة الحافظ إبن قطلوبغا، وقد إعتمد فيه على نسخة مخطوطة من مخطوطان جامعة الملك سعود بالرياض. وقد قدم لهذه الشروح الأربعة بترجمة موجزة للناظم الحافظ إبن فرح الإشبيلي الشافعي، ثم وضع نص النظم مضبوطاً بالشكل التام، وقدم لكل شرح بترجمة موجزة لمصنفه.
