في القاموس العربي عجائب وغرائب عديدة، قلما نجد أمثالها في قواميس أشهر اللغات، والكتاب الذي بين يدينا سعى لذكر شيء منها ببعض التفصيل. أعجب تلك المزايا يختص بلغتنا وحدها، وهو كونها قد أثرت تأثيراً ذا درجات متباينة من الشدة في نحو مئة من لغات العالم ولهجاته، ومن جملتها أرقى اللغات الأوربية.
لقد راجت الطبعة الأولى لهذا الكتاب، الصادرة في حلب سنة 1954. من أوضح الدلائل على ذلك الرواج أن وزارة معارف العراق قد إشترت خمساً وسبعين نسخة لمكاتب أساتذة مدارسها. فشجع هذا النجاح المؤلف على تهيئة هذه الطبعة، التي هي نحو ثلاثة أضعاف الأولى بغزارة موادها.
ولم يكتف بإضافة عدة فصول جديدة جزيلة الفائدة، بل توسع في أبواب الطبعة الأولى إلى أقصى حدود الإمكان، وعلى الأخص في الكلمات الدخيلة، فقد صار عددها نحو2515 بدلاً من 521. وقد جعل لها في آخر الكتاب جدولاً أبجدياً، فيه، بعد كل كلمة، إشارة إلى اللغة التي إقتُبست منها، ورقم الصفحة الحاوية الشرح اللازم للكلمة وأصلها.
في قاموس الّلغة العربية عجائب وغرائب عديدة ، أعجب تلك المزايا كون هذه اللّغة قد أثرت تأثيرا" ذا درجات متبانية من الشّدة في نحو مئة من لغات العالم ولهجاته ومن جملتها أرقى اللّغات الاوروبية . وهذا الكتاب هو قاموس نادر يحتوي على مجموعة من الكلمات الدخيلة وعددها 2515 ، وضع لها في آخر الكتاب جدولا" ابجديّا"، فيه ، بعد كل كلمة ، إشارة الى اللّغة الّتي اقتبست منها، ورقم الصفحة الحاوية الشرح اللازم للكلمة ولأصلها.
